Hard to believe we are commencing our final summer month before school is back in session.
Summer Concert Series
Only two more concerts for the 2024 season. We have enjoyed each group. If you haven’t been to one of our concerts, please try to join us for one of our final ones. The doors open at six pm with the concert beginning at seven pm. The kitchen also opens at six pm, so if you come hungry, food is available. Our cobbler with ice cream is always a hit.
The Admission is $10.00 per adult and children under 12 are free. All money raised for admission as well as the profits from the food kitchen is used to help finance our center. Our concerts are our major source of raising money necessary to keep our center running.
Our last two concerts are:
August 10th – Grizzell & Friends
August 24th – Just Us
Hope to see you there!!
Pot Luck Dinner
Our Pot Luck dinner will be held on August 20th at 6:00 pm. It is a great time to visit with friends and share one of your favorite dishes with the community. I think this is a place that offers some of the best southern cooking one can find. The dinner begins at 6 pm. Hope to see you there!!
Our July dinner was well attended. There were approximately 50 folks in attendance. It was a very pleasant evening with a bountiful selection of food.
Food Pantries
Our July Pantries were well attended. On July 11, 2024 , Matt’s Ministry sponsored our pantry. We had 47 people attend. They selected food for 109 family members. Once again we had tremendous help from our community. I wish to thank the following volunteers: Charlotte and Gary Majercik, Joan Beccard, Charles Allison, Bill Gibson, Robin Alessi, Larry Shoeman, Maggie Butler, Sharon Hayden, Paulette Tonielli, Carolyn Anderson, Mary Bess Shelton, and Linda Snyder.
On July 25, 2024, Clay County Food Pantry sponsored our pantry. Once again it was well attended. We had 49 folks attend and they selected food for 120 family members. We had an outpouring of community members who helped make it another success. I’d like to thank the following volunteers for their most appreciated help. Thank you Charlotte and Gary Majercik, Joan Beccard, Charles Allison, Bill Gibson, Robin Alessi, Larry Shoeman, Sharon Hayden, Paulette Tonielli, Carolyn Anderson, Johnny Scroggs, Pat Raleigh, Ken Green, Sheila Cranford , Barbara Crose, and James S. We really appreciate all your kind help.
Our August pantries will take place on August 8th and August 22nd from 11:00-1:00 PM. The purpose of our pantry is to help provide supplemental food for any community members who are experiencing food insecurity. Should you know of anyone who could benefit from this program, please share this information with them.
Board News
Our Board Members have been busy working on grants. We received the Dub & Murray Martin Grant for $3,000.00 which will be used to upgrade the sound system we have in our gymnasium.
We have submitted paperwork for a grant from Walmart’s to purchase a new playground set to replace the one currently on our grounds. The grant request is currently in Walmart’s computer awaiting their decision.
Enjoy the rest of our summer!
Your Crier,
Linda Snyder Gibson
