Happy December Everyone!
Our Thanksgiving Dinner was one of the best ever. It was good to see everyone there and good to enjoy all your culinary delights! Thank you to all who helped out, your assistance was most appreciated. A very special thank you goes out to Carolyn Anderson who worked so hard making sure the turkey, ham, stuffing and gravy was ample and delicious!!! Thank you Carolyn! We had close to 100 community members present.
Our Community Food Bank took place on November 16th. Once again the weather co -operated with us. We served 71 individuals who in turn selected food for 179 family members. I wish to thank the following people who helped to make this Pantry so successful. Charlie Allison, Christina Prince, Joan Beccard, Ken Walker, Bill Gibson, Melvin Cantrell, Charlotte Majercik, Kaye LaForce-Pridgen, Karen Kelley, Hoyt Zimmerman, Sharon Hayden, and of course Maggie Butler, who makes this all possible. I guess all and all November was a very good month for us in Brasstown.
Our next food pantry is scheduled for Thursday, December 14th. There will be a slight change in our hours of operation. This month’s, and going forward, all future pantries will run from 12-2 pm. We have found that people like to come a little earlier. Anyone in need of some supplemental food, please plan to attend. Also if any community members would like to help in any way please let me know. 828-360-5058. Matt’s Ministry has been most gracious in providing us with all the food.
I would like to introduce to you our New Executive Board Members for 2024, of the Brasstown Community Civic Center. They are:
- Administrator: Clay Logan
- President: Hoyt Zimmerman
- Vice President: Carolyn Anderson
- Treasurer/Event Planner: Pam Cray
- Secretary: Linda Snyder Gibson
- Member At Large: Mary Bess Shelton
If you have any suggestions as to how to make our community center better, please let one of our Board Members know. We appreciate your input. We meet the third Tuesday of every month, following the Potluck Dinner. I believe we have a wonderful Community Center, but we are always looking for ways to make it even better. As Mr. Logan shared at our Thanksgiving Dinner, we will be installing the sound boards in the School House Building to improve the acoustics of the room. We will also be installing a handicapped ramp to our stage in the gymnasium, and are in the process of raising money (through donations) to replace our aging sound system also in the gymnasium
Looking forward to seeing you all at our next Community Pot Luck on January 16, 2024 (Note: we have no Pot Luck in December.)
On behalf of all the Executive Board, I would like to wish everyone a most Blessed Holiday Season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year!!
Your Brasstown Crier,
