Summer Concert Series: The mountains are exquisite in May and what could be better than kicking off the summer concert series on Saturday, May 12th at 7:00 pm with The Carolina Bluegrass Boys! Brush Fire will perform on May 26. Doors open at 6:00 pm. AND hot dogs, BBQ plates, home made cobblers, ice cream, soda and coffee will be available for purchase. Concerts will be held every 2nd and 4th Saturday.
The brochures for the Summer Concert Series are available at the Brasstown Community Center, the Hayesville and Murphy Chambers of Commerce and the Clay County Progress. Clay Logan also has some and he can email the schedule to anyone that wants it. His email is firstname.lastname@example.org.

Our Community Pot Luck Dinner is held every 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm at the Brasstown Community Center on Settawig Road. This month it will be held on Tuesday, May 15th. Bring children, friends and a dish to share and come out to share food and fellowship with friends, neighbors, and new people in our community.
The Kula Wellness Center offers yoga classes for all levels, pilates, massage, Ayurveda consultations with Hannah Levin, group meditation and special workshops. Special events at Kula in May include:

May 18th, 7:30 – 9:30 – Old Time Jam lead by Bob Dalsemer, FREE, snacks appreciated but not required.
May 19th – Sgraffito Bowls Workshop with Hannah Levin, 3-6pm
May 23rd – Write to Empower with Mary Ricketson, 6:30-8:30pm
May 26th – Make Lotions and Salves with Allison Haigler, 9am – 12pm
For details on classes, check the Kula website at Kula.Love. The Kula Center is located on the hill above Clay’s Corner and it is accessed from Settawig Road by Emily Lane (immediately past the Post Office on the left as you are leaving Brasstown).
The John C. Campbell Folk School is an incredible resource in our community that has more classes on how to make things than we can list here. If you would like to spend a week learning to paint, make a basket, learn blacksmithing, wood working or how to play a musical instrument (to name just a few), check out the Folk School website at https://www.folkschool.org.
They also host a free contra dance in the Keith House at 7 pm on Tuesdays. There is contra dancing or English Country Dancing every other Saturday evening ($7.00 for adults, ages 10-18 $5.00 and under 10 free). On May 12th, 8:00 – 11:00 there will be a CONTRA & SQUARE DANCE WITH PHIL JAMISON & HOOT AND HOLLAR. ON MAY 26, 8:00 – 11:00, THERE WILL BE A CONTRA & SQUARE DANCE WITH JANET SHEPHERD AND THE MOUNTAIN CREEK BOYS.
The Brasstown Community Center Education Building is progressing. Clay Logan reports that the heating and air conditioning has been installed. The floor needs to be sealed, a toilet and sink installed and the building furnished with tables and chairs. We are hoping the building will be completed and ready for use by the end of May. The Brasstown Community Center is a 501C3 charitable organization. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated! Fund raising for the Brasstown Fire Department is ongoing. Contributions go towards a new building to house the Fire Department. The Brasstown Fire Department has applied for 501C3 charitable organization status. The 501C3 application is pending. Donations can be sent to the Brasstown Fire Department, P.O. Box 55, Brasstown, NC 28902. Any amount will be appreciated. Let’s all support our Brasstown Community Fire Department!
