Hello friends of Brasstown!
First, let me express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks to everyone (friends, family and co-workers) who participated in the memorial for my brother John this past weekend. A special thank you to Clay Logan for “hosting”, Chris Logan for setting up the projector for the photo slide show, Kathy Teems and Patty Bagley for all their help setting out food, making coffee and cleaning up afterwards, and Danny for setting up the tables and chairs and helping people park. My family was impressed by the hospitality and support provided by members of the community. Again, I can’t express how much it meant to me to see each one of you there. This is what makes me so glad to live in this part of the world!
If you want to share in the some of this same spirit, come to our monthly community pot luck dinner on Tuesday October 18th at 6pm. Bring a dish to share, bring your family and come meet your neighbors in the area and get to know more about us and some of the things we are doing at the Brasstown Community Civic Center, 255 Settawig Rd, just north of the post office.
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, check out these events:

The NC Extension Office which informs us educates us on all things agricultural (farming, gardening, raising and care of farm animals) has a monthly newsletter. Some of their classes are held at the Brasstown Community Center, so we like to pass on their information as well. Consider getting on their mailing list as well. See attached newsletter.
Looking ahead, please reserve the date for the Brasstown Fire Department Auctionand Dinner at the Brasstown Community Center on Saturday November 12, 2016. The Fire Department is a vital part of this community and they need our support to raise money for anew building to house longer trucks. See attached flyer.
As always, if you need to rent the community center for a private event (birthday party, wedding reception, dance, etc) contact me at 828-361-3040 or through the web site at brasstowncommunitycenter.org. Be sure to check out the Calendar for available dates.
